Wrapper's Delight

It doesn't get any better than this!

A great option for the Modern bride in a non-traditional way. Cupcakes! This hot confection is making it's way into the reception halls all across the nation. Although this trend is not new, the wrappers and their many designs are. Butterflies, lace, filigree, choo choo trains, rose vines, and so much more. To really take it a notch above, coordinate with an edible delight such as seen above.

A new and trend setting way for today's Bride. What expresses Theme more? An exciting alternative to the wedding cake and a delightful pleasure to your palette. If your baker doesn't have them, you can obtain them online.

So dare to be different and set a trend!

Amazing Cakes

The 2nd cake of this series.

This cake is beyond amazing. It is out of this WORLD. However one can't help but to be amazed by it. This is an understatement to the term "A Bed of Roses".

Quaintly beautiful in form, yet overwhelmingly artful. The confections would be considered a god among all Cakeland.

I have to ask; How does one even attempt to cut into it? Do you think each individual rosebud is an actual cake?

What do you think?

Amazing Cakes

I am truly amazed at the many different trends that our industry produces. What ones comes up with next one never knows until it explodes on the scene. In the process of taking our breath away, it also removes the ceiling of what was and gives us the hope of endless possibilities of what could be. Dreams coming true. Take for instance, The Wedding Cake. As time progresses the traditional no has precedence, while non-traditional takes the helm. Outrages designs, infused with the designers skill and the couples personality and style reflected through and through. The first and certainly not the last,I present this Amazing Cake.

Do you think this couple probably fancied donuts?

Bride Wars

Greetings All,

I just picked up the latest copy of Modern Bride Magazine, graced by the beauties Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway adorned in bridal gowns.

The movie Bride Wars, which open in theaters January 9, is a must see! In a short but brief synapses, the two gal pals both become engaged and begin their wedding plans but learn that there is only one date available at their dream venue, The Plaza. The friendship is tossed, hats are off, blue hair, a tan gone wrong....you get the picture.

In the mag they are interviewed about friendships, planning a wedding and what songs one would choose for her wedding playlist. I am excited about this movie. I can't wait to see it! In this issue you'll also find the latest in wedding fashions, calender girls, and so much more. This double cover mag may be a limited edition. So run to the newsstand and pick up your copy TODAY!

This movie is ideal for those who are engaged, and who are already knee deep in the planning process. A wedding planner, must see!

Imagine Wedding Designer

The Video Game? How cool is that?

What will they think of next? I am really amazed at how our technology has evolved. Furthermore, I am totally blown away by this video game. Produced by Nintendo for their DS game system, the featuring inspirations are everything from choosing a wedding location, to decorating the venue, to choosing the perfect gown, and so much more.

Gee, where was this interactive game when I was just a wee designer? Now don't get me wrong, Barbie's Fashion Plates were the move, but this takes the cake. I mean literally. What better way to get the wee and not-so-wee to understand and become more involved in the planning aspect even if it's from a recreational standpoint. Who knows this video can be a prerequisite to piquing their curiosity, thus paving the way for a another, Preston Bailey, Martha Stewart, David Tutera, or
Colin Cowie (just some of my inspirations).

Can you Imagine? I can.

Whoo-hoo! Let the games begin...

Etiquette & The Wedding Invitation

The Wedding Invitation is one of the most important and key factors to your special day. It informs your quests of the who, what, where, and when. As per the level of formality dictates the weight of paper and type of printing, it will also allude to an air of expectation of what is to come.

As tradition would have it, there are several parts that accompany the wedding invitation. However, depending upon size, formality of the event, and budget you can opt to include them or not to. Below you will find a the parts of the invitation, and a brief summary of each in significance.

The Outer Envelope - This is where your entire ensemble is held. This is optional of course today. Some choose to forgo this part for a variety of reasons, i.e.; less paper waste. Note: When using an outer envelope, your return address should be found on the outer back flap.

The Inner Envelope - Often lined with colored paper (gloss or matte) to match the ink or decal on the invitation. This adds a special and elegant touch to the overall presentation of your invitation.

The Invitation - Of course

Tissue Paper - Traditionally this was used as a overlay on the invitation to prevent the ink from smudging. No longer essential because of the many different printing options, but still used for the overall traditional appeal.

The Reception Card - This informs your quests where the celebration will occur. This is needed especially if your wedding and reception are in different locations. However, if your wedding and reception are in the same location, then this is not necessary.

The Response Card - This important card informs your intended guests to respond with a reply to accept or regret, usually before or by a closing date.

Response Card Envelope - This should include your address and have a stamp on it.

Map and Directional Cards - These are exceptionally helpful in getting your guests from point A to B. Especially those who are in from out-of-town. These can be purchased along with your ensemble or requested from your reception venue.

Accommodation Cards - For your out of town guests. This preprinted card will list your recommendations of selected hotels where they can lodge at. Trust me, they will appreciate this.Optional

Within-the-Ribbon Cards - Another tradition is to designate special seating for select guests. The guests receiving these cards present them to the ushers, who will escort them to this special seating (usually in the front) that has been sectioned off by ribbon. Optional.

At-Home Cards - A handy way to inform every one of your new address and the date you expect to begin residing there. These can be sent with a wedding invitation or wedding announcement. Also, optional.

**Save the Dates Cards are normally sent out 12 months before your event, or if your wedding is around a calendar holiday. It gives your intended guests "the heads up" to plan and the option of scheduling vacation time around your weekend festivities.**

Just a few other tips when sending out your invitations:

- Mail out 4 to 8 weeks before
- Never include any registry information
- Never write on the response card the "number" of people that you are inviting
- Never and by all means, never put "Monetary Gifts Preferred" on your invitation or any other piece of your wedding stationery.

Even though all of these pieces are listed above, it does not mean you need all of them. The more you add, the higher the cost becomes. Not just for your stationery, but for postage as well. Choose pieces that will fit your needs and budget accordingly and you won't go wrong.

Happy Planning!

A Barrel Of Love

You want to find a way to make your event more memorable? How about your own wine in personalized bottles to commemorate the occasion? To be given as parting gifts or to be served during the event, or both. You decide.

If you're a lover of wine and take great pleasure in it's process then the City Winery is the place for you. Located in New York City, and birthed by wine enthusiast, Michael Dorf is the only winery home to Manhattan in 40 years. The process in length is 1 year, but overall worth it. (Perrrfect if your wedding plans start a little or before that time).

Here's the skinny: Your Bottles starting value? As little as $30 per, but an entire barrel can yield up to 250 bottles. It's up to you on how much involved in it's process you choose to be. For example; selecting the grapes, to the bottling.

Furthermore, you can have your own labels made up (with monogram and date of, of course) or work with the winery to create one for you. From start to finish you would have vested your heart and energy into it's production. Nothing says more than that.

If that doesn't spell T-H-E-M-E, then I don't know what does.

The Winery is also a world-class wine bar, live music venue and private event space. To get more information click on any of the links above to experience City Winery.

On the 12th Day of Christmas...

Happy December All!

I hope that everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving Holiday and that all was stuffed with nothing but love, happiness, and good food. As we settle into this holiday season, let us reflect on the many good things that has happen this year and prayerfully good of what is to come. Gift giving is great, but let us not forget within our hearts the true meaning of Christmas; Helping others less fortunate than ourselves.

On that note, your help is greatly needed;

A colleague of mine, Michael Ungaro of http://www.thegallerybx.com/ in conjunction with the 40Th Pct. and Community Board are collecting toys and baby garments for their annual drive. All items will be donated to a homeless shelter with 21 families. The ages range from 3 months to 18 yrs old. Boys and Girls.

The Deadline is by December 13, 2008.

If you are a native New Yorker and live in the areas of any of the Drop Off zones listed below, I encourage you to do so. And for those of you who live outside of New York mail it in if you can. I can't begin to tell you how much of a difference it makes to the parents who struggle so hard to give their children the best. and most of all the receiver of the gift, the child.

The price range of $10.00 to $15.00 USD per gift, falls short of the value that child will place on that gift.

Here are the Drop Offs:

The Gallery Lounge
26 Bruckner Blvd.
Bronx, New York 10454

40Th Pct.
257 Alexander Avenue
Bronx, New York 10454

Metro Optics Eyewear
1332 Metropolitan Avenue
Bronx, New York 10462

Metro Optics Eyewear
25 Westchester Sq.
Bronx, New York 10461

For further information feel free to contact Gloria Cruz 718-924-1918 or Alex Diaz at 917-370-9090.

After all Christmas comes once a year, but the ability to make someones circumstance lighter and brighter can happen everyday and that is the greatest gift of all.

With Sincere Thanks.
