Your Angel...Should Have Wings!

Who said your flower girl couldn't wing it on her own?

You ever been to a wedding where the flower girl was too frightened to walk down the aisle by herself? Adorn her with these and she'll soar with a confidence like no other! Not only does this build her confidence, but it gives her a job of adding an air of the whimsical and one of romance to your special day.

Adding a few touches such as ballerina slippers and styling her hair with coordinating adornments will complete this look.

And if you plan to line your aisle runner with petals, have her carry a prop, such as a harp or a bow & arrow.

The possibilities are endless.

"Angel wings" of feathers, pink spray roses and wax flowers, $175, by Jane Packer Flowers at The Conran Shop, NYC. Pink silk doupioni dress with ballerina skirt, about $198, by Saeyoung Vu Couture.

You can also find these (plain)wings for your little angel at the Mother Plucker Feather Company, Inc. for about $40.00 (USD). They are the same company that makes the wings that the Victoria's Secret models wear. How cool is that?

The Essentials....

What you need to do to get your wedding plans off the ground and headed in the right direction.

Now that your engagement is in full swing and the excitement of the proposal begins to slightly fade.. you begin to wonder, where do I begin? If you're not sure what to do or where to start here are some foundational keys to ensure the success of your Special Day.

1. Set a Date.
2. Set a Realistic Budget. Have a meeting with all those contributing to the costs of your wedding.
3. Compile your guests list.
4. Choose your ceremony & reception venues. Note that if you plan to have a religious ceremony, the booking of your reception venue is dependent on the availability of the Church/Minister.
5. Decide on your theme and color scheme.
6. Do your homework and educate yourself on what's out there. Buy Bridal mags, and watch wedding shows to cue in on what kind and type of details you would want for your special day. Start a Bridal Binder or develop your own Inspirational Board.

7. Get help if you need it. Even the most organized person needs a second. Did you know it takes over 200 hours to plan a wedding? Where does one find time to sleep? Eat? Shop? Enlisting the services of a wedding planner may be an option or you.

Remember: Make a mental note to have fun, and incorporate that into your planning process. Especially when challenges are impending, take break and come back at another time with a different approach. You'll be refreshed and glad that you did.

Happy Planning!

Memoirs, The Newsletter - Released!

It seems like it has been a long road. Although my journey is not complete, I feel that I have arrived. Well at least to where I am supposed to be today that is.

It is with great pleasure and resounding relief that I can announce the arrival of Memoirs of a Wedding Planner, The Newsletter. Whew! Of course, a spin off from this site, it will be published bi-monthly. This forum will provide pretty much the same content, more or less. I was told by my business coach, Pam Knight that a newsletter is a critical component in any business, because it allows you to get more in touch with your audience/prospective clients.

Although great tools, the forums in which the newsletter was being generated I found too impersonal. As a wedding/party planner and generally a visual person, I felt the need to take it a step further. I needed to provide my clients the opportunity of not only being informed in content, but to visualize a particular service or product as well. I had to tap into my designers mode, and after much designing and redesigning, and my son, Ryan's constant reminders, I was excited at the prospect and up to challenge. Long awaited, much anticipated, I finally can SIGH!

Furthermore, the newsletter will also be available in print form for those who are not of the Internet Savvy. To my vendors, and network, I will be looking for products and services to feature (So touch base). So without further delay, I invite you to click on the Icon with the flipping pages and view the contents of our Newsletter.

Thanks for your prayers and support. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Your Engaged ....

Happy New Year and Congratulations on your Engagement!

I am so elated for you.

This is without a doubt probably one of the most exciting and emotional times of your life. How did he propose? Were you alone or around family and friends? Were you expecting it? Did you have an idea? Slightly?... The key is that no matter how it was done, it was done. He asked you to spend on that day "the rest of your lives together". And with that memory you should cherish it, always!

So Now What?

You have the Man. You have the Ring. He has your Heart and your Yes ... How soon do we hear those Wedding Bells Ring?

The next step begins with your plans: The Who, What, When, & Where. Oh the decisions, the decisions. And so it begins...

In the next post I will give key points on what is essential to get your plans headed in the right direction. Until then, I leave you with a spin-off of a "video proposal" from one of my favorite movies..Top Gun. Tom Cruise was so adorable in this Flix.

Happy Proposal!

Happy New Year!

****Reflections & Resolutions****

I wish all Good Things and I Pray much Success and Happiness in each and everyone of your Lives.

In this pass year I have been blessed with the opportunity to have met and worked with so many wonderful people and through that, relationships have been cultivated. And with each relationship I have been imparted with enriching and fulfilling friendships. I truly thank each and everyone of you. So much has happened in 2008. Good and Bad. History was made. With each lesson that we've learned let us reflect on it and apply it to the benefits of a productive 2009.

I so do look forward to working with my 2009 couples and clients of special events to make their dreams for their day come true. The creativity that I have been blessed with and this stewardship that I have, along with that same selflessness passion, I aim to apply to giving back. Not only to my clients but to the industry as whole.

In the interim, I am excited about the many new business relationships turned friendships. More importantly, the opportunity to enhance and promote their businesses as well as my own. I have great stuff in stored for you guys. You wait and see. I believe that each person, situation, or circumstance happens for a reason. People, places, and opportunities are seeds planted to take root for things you would have never imagined. Good things. Even better, Great Things! So with 2009 I plan to transition, Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally, Financially, Creatively, and Physically. Mind, Body, and Soul. Furthermore, I plan to bond even more with my family and friends.

So inclusion of my long-winded post, with a new year comes new beginnings. Ultimately change. Not necessarily immediate change, but change nonetheless. Once "Change" is rooted in your mindset, you begin to think outside of the box. So for 2009,set your goals and aim high. Don't just settle for chasing after your dreams, instead grab hold of, and step into them. Oh, because the possibilities are endless.

Happy New Year!

Grace & Peace be unto you. Always.
