Deciding on Your Wedding Style

{Dress, Oleg Cassini}

From the time that you become engaged up until the moment that you say "I do", you will more than likely run through a gamut of emotions. The charge to get your plans up and running off the ground will at times be both exciting and overwhelming. Take careful thought and consideration when deciding the type of wedding you would like before your plans are well on their way.

For instance, ask yourself; "When I look at the key elements that would eventually tie my day together, do I want to see my style and personalization, or do I want to see traditions and cookie cutter concepts? Do I want a wedding that when my guests enter the room they know instantly that this is a reflection of my groom, our love, and I?

Knowing which route you'll take is crucial to the planning of your special day. It will save you time and energy to create a plan from the beginning and stick to it. Just to give you a sense of what is "Customizing" and "Cookie cutter", I have listed the definitions below.

Customizing - to modify or build according to individual or personal specifications or preference

Cookie Cutter - 1. having the same configuration or look as many others of a given kind; identical: rows of cookie-cutter houses.
2. lacking individuality; stereotyped or formulaic: a novel filled with cookie-cutter characters.

With both of these wedding styles there is much planning involved. There is no style greater than the next. But there is a higher level of excellence required in planning a more custom/couture wedding. Meaning the elements involved are One-of-a-Kind, and are catered specifically to you. So the planning becomes a little more in depth and costly. Whereas, the cookie-cutter wedding does not require much creativity or personalization. With this concept, anyone can pretty much walk into "the store" and take it off the rack.

Here are just some of the elements of your wedding day that can be customized:

Your Dress/Gown
Wedding Stationery
Motif/Monogram
Parting Gifts
Wedding Vows

So in essence there is no right or wrong in deciding how you choose your wedding style. Note there are things that can be incorporated to make your day more of your own. You choose which route works best for you and your vision for your special day.

Happy Planning!
